FULCRUM IMMERSIVE
To improve acoustics, we first evaluated acoustical behavior of the room. This allowed us to create an acoustical design that could utilize much of the current equipment, including appropriately placing existing loudspeakers.
A crucial part of the acoustical design was allowing for both modern worship on Sunday mornings, as well as the room being used as the school's cafeteria for the 1,200 students.
The client desired a consistent visual and aural feel throughout the sanctuary, providing every seat with an immersive, true stereo experience.
We designed the acoustical setting so each sound source can benefit from specific acoustic environments. Vocalist experience lush reverberation, while preaching can be in a controlled environment to enhance speech intelligibility.
SUMMARY
Carmel Baptist is one of the largest churches in Charlotte, with over 5,000 members. The church is also home to Carmel Christian School, with 1,200 students. Their sanctuary needed acoustical treatment in order to serve both ministries, as the space is used for modern worship on Sunday mornings and as cafeteria space during the week.
In the previous renovation of the space, the acoustical energy created undesirable reflections and recessive reverberations, affecting sound quality and speech intelligibility for both worship and cafeteria use.
THE SOLUTION
WAVE was asked to correct the acoustical problems with mathematically-designed acoustical materials that would lower reflective energy and control unwanted reverberation. Reflections were balanced, and immersive technology was integrated to create a matched immersive experience in every seat. Fulcrum Immersive panels were placed in the ceiling and panted to match, and bass control software creates tight bass response a reality across the entire audience.

THEIR STORY
"This is an incredible room to mix in. The work WAVE provided completely changed the audience experience, and allows us to do things sonically like we've never been able to do before."
